VMware社のサイトより使用するバージョン・パッケージのVMwareServerをダウンロードする。

ダウンロード
VMwareServer(tar.gz)

シリアルナンバーを入手するためにはユーザ登録が必須となる。
参考用のライセンスキーは下記

製品種別: VMware Server 2 for Linux

VMwareServerのインストール†

以下にて圧縮を解除し、インストールスクリプトを実行する。

tar xfvz VMware-server-2.0.0-116503.i386.tar.gz 
cd vmware-server-distrib/
./vmware-install.pl

VMwareServerの初期設定†

インストールスクリプトにより初期設定が行われる。

インストール先の指定

初期設定実行の確認

Before running VMware Server for the first time, you need to configure it by 
invoking the following command: "/usr/bin/vmware-config.pl". Do you want this

起動中サービスが停止

VMwareServerの起動/停止†

インストール段階で自動起動の設定が行われるが、手動にて起動・停止を行う場合には以下を使用する。

起動

/etc/init.d/vmware start
```

停止

/etc/init.d/httpd.vmware stop
```
